1.5 JANE ELIZABETH FICK (ROBERT6, JOHN5, JOHN4, JOHN3, JOHANN DANIEL2, JOHANN HEINRICH1)  was born on the 29th of March, 1886, in Douglas, Isle of Man, and died on the 26th of December, 1945, in Windsor, Ontario. She married RICHARD KNEALE MERCER on the 19th of February, 1905, in Douglas, Isle of Man. He was born on the 31st of May, 1886, in Douglas, Isle of Man.

Richard and his sons Richard and Harold came to Canada aboard the S.S. Grampian in March of 1910. It is not known exactly when Jane and her daughter Doris arrived. They settled in Brantford, Ontario, where Richard worked in a bakery. In 1916 Richard and family moved to 27 Blackburn St., Toronto and on 10th June 1916 he enlisted in the Canadian Army, CEF 204th Battalion. His Reg. No. was 237976. On his Attestation (enlistment) document he is described as being 5’-4-1/2” tall with dark complexion, gray eyes and black hair. When Richard returned from overseas service the family moved back to Brantford.
